This new addition to my site was taken from a section of a bridge on the way into Rodley Nature Reserve as with most of the good ones just spotted it as I was walking past and had to take a shot of it.

This new one features riveted rusty metal with detailed cracked and peeling paint off it, good detail on this one and cool colours.

I’ve got loads more metal and cracked paint textures also available on my site that might might also be of interest.

I’ll be taking some more larger shots next time I’m there, hopefully with slightly better light.

This addition to the site features shots from a checker plate aluminium sheet. The aged metal is covered in dust and dead bugs along with other things.

I have slightly altered the image and added a slightly darker border to the image, but thinking of having the original available as well. I have also some shots of the texture from a distance, with a greater variety of smaller checkers. I will get that added to the site soon.

Description: Pitted aluminium with quite selection of slight rust and an excellent pitted surfaces, this one should be good to add a grunge style to paper and other images, I tried it in Photoshop and desaturated it and in the hue and saturation settings, select colorize and add colour before altering the layer modes, loads of possible options can be achieved, or you can just leave it as it is, like this one.

Description: This pitted rust texture is taken from photographs of the side of an old cast iron bath that has been stood outside in a field for years. There is deep pitting of the metal which makes a great grunge style texture.

I’ll be featuring this one in an up coming tutorial, this one looks amazing on hundred percent zoomed in, lots and lots of detail on this one, should look great as on overlay image in photoshop with a multiply setting.

Description: This detailed rust texture is taken from a close up macro photograph from the side of an old galvanised water tank, rust has kicked in but due to the metal and treatment its quite subtle and has created a varied texture.

I think this one works well at 100% zoomed in photoshop as its grainy and the details are really sharp, but also works well zoomed out at different settings, love the gritty noise textures that appear at the top in contrast to the lower sections where the shapes are softer as the rain has washed over it.

Description: A rusty checkerplate metal texture taken from shots of another manhole cover again from work. This metal checkerplate texture is photographed from a distance and show a good selection of markings.

Description: A very detailed manhole cover texture which I took a macro photo of at work. The metal is worn and dry with slight hints of rust, some great details on this new addition. I will be adding more of these with a variety of different metallic patterns.

Making a note of all the amazing textures I walk past everyday, starting to becoming a bit of an obsession, but to add its surprising how many amazing things we walk past every day without taking note of, looking forward to sharing more of my favourite textures soon.

Description: A distressed Aluminium checker-plate metal sheet which has been painted at some point, the paint has cracked off and left traces of white along with fine moss adding to the image. Will be adding more varied checkerplate textures to the site soon.

Description: This distressed aluminium texture was shot from the back of a checker plate sheet of aluminium. It has traces of light blue paint and has been stood against a sheet of rusty metal at some point as there are traces of light rust, lots of interesting section on this one.
